These computers stored data using magnetic core memory, which was more efficient and quick than the preceding punched card and paper tape techniques. 


 Assembly Language: 

 The use of assembly language in programming increased, making it simpler for developers to use these devices.


 Batch Processing: 

 Multiple jobs were performed sequentially using second-generation computers in batch processing.
